Components and Setup:
- Carriage Mounting Plate and Linear Bearing:
- Secure the carriage mounting plate onto the surfacing arm carriage using the M12 hexagon headed bolt.
- Align the linear support bearing so it protrudes one screw hole past the end of the surfacing arm.
- Secure with three M10 screws and tighten the bolts to ensure stability.
- Toolpost Installation:
- Remove the center caphead screw and lift off the tool post.
- Remove the aluminum spacer block, using a soft drift if necessary to free the locating dowels.
- Position the toolpost on the raised boss of the carriage mounting plate and secure it with the center caphead screw.
- Balance Weight:
- Attach the balance weight as specified to ensure proper balance during operation.
Instructions for Machining the Flange Rear Face:
- Preparation:
- Ensure all mountings are tight and the machine is secure on the tube sheet face.
- Remove the toolpost and replace the top plate and extended knob assembly with the standard knob assembly.
- Attach the rear face toolpost arm and secure with six M12 screws.
- Assembly:
- Attach the rear face toolpost plate at 90° to the rear face arm and secure with four M12 screws.
- Insert a turning tool into the toolpost, check the tool traverse, and adjust the counterbalance weights as necessary.
Instructions for Machining the Flange Front Face:
- Initial Setup:
- Measure and note the outside diameter of the tube sheet flange.
- Adjust the surfacing arm clamping screws to position the arm correctly.
- Vertical Positioning:
- Use a mechanical lifting device to carefully lift the machine into the vertical position.
- Ensure the location spigot is seated correctly and secure with four M12 bolts.
- Fit the counterbalance bracket and adjust weights as necessary.
- Toolpost Adjustment:
- Remove the toolpost and attach the carriage mounting plate.
- Secure the linear support bearing and support spacer.
- Fit the extended knob assembly and refit the toolpost.
- Final Adjustments:
- Insert a turning tool, check the tool traverse, and adjust the machine balance.
